December deadline is closer than you think. Make sure you’re ready.
Crop Insights is launching EUDR Pulse – a monthly series of updates on the EU Deforestation Regulation, running until the December 2026 deadline. This first edition covers the key developments from summer 2026: what changed, what it means for soya operators, and where things stand with the EUDR Information System.
What changed for soya operators?
The EU has partially simplified the rules: good news, with important nuances.
A new Delegated Act updates the list of products covered by EUDR. The headline: soybeans for sowing are now out of scope, but only for companies whose entire business is breeding, multiplying, packaging, or selling sowing seeds. However, a seed company is not automatically outside the EUDR if it also trades commercial soybeans for feed or food, markets soya meal, soya oil, or other soya-derived products, or operates within a broader group structure that places in-scope soya products on the market is still fully in scope, deadline 30 December 2026.
EUDR Information System is back open
A new Implementing Act sets the technical rules for the EUDR Information System — the platform where due diligence statements and simplified declarations are submitted. Key updates include:
- Simplified declarations for micro and small primary operators
- Updated API specifications for automated submissions
- System reopened end of July 2026, with Commission training sessions now underway
The clock is ticking — and the system is live.
